It was a clear day, and clear night yesterday. Planned to bring a friend who showed interest in universe. Planned for two weeks for clear night sky, finally I brought him to see the world cinema. Whole sky filled with stars all around, and Milky Way.

I didn’t expect quite a number of cars in the Cape Schanck parking lot. Cool that so many people showed interest in Astrophotography. So we enjoyed the sky and took shots.

UNKNOWINGLY, the moment everyone there waiting for just took place. AURORA AUSTRALIS. we didn’t even know because it’s invisible to the naked eyes. Until we saw glimmer of red and green in our shots, then we realized why it was crowded that midnight. I checked the Aurora forecast and yup there it was, staring back at us.

4 hours there felt like minutes. The excitement, the awe, just amazing. Had been chasing Aurora even to Bruny Island in Tasmania, didn’t get any. That night, it was A PLEASANT SURPRISE, coincidentally we were there at the right time, and right angle and orientation. Milky Way was at the horizon, so couldn’t get a nice shot of it, but this is a satisfied replacement.

In addition, many shooting stars that night as you would be able to easily spots...

Going for walk has all the benefits you might think it would. It’s a great way to improve or maintain your overall health – just 30 minutes every day can increase cardiovascular fitness, strengthen bones, reduce excess body fat, and boost muscle power and endurance. But walking is also good for the soul – breathing in fresh air, absorbing the world around you, and taking time out just for you. It’s low impact, it requires no equipment other than a good pair of walking shoes, it can be done at any time of day and you can walk at your own pace. And it’s free! The Mornington Peninsula is the ideal walking destination. With bay beaches, ocean beaches, wetlands, bush tracks, hilltop views, creeks, piers and historical landmarks, there really is something for everyone. So whether you prefer a short 30 minute stroll, setting an energetic pace over several kms, or a long haul half day jaunt, you will find your piece of walking paradise. So get together a group of friends, or the kids, or your dog and pooper scooper, and step into the...

Beautiful place - many walking tracks, all quite clean. Maintenance level is not high, some of the stairs leading to the beach are quite eroded (granted it's just a wooden skeleton of a staircase filled in with sand but still), and the signage is a bit lacking. But I think it lends an adventurous character to the area.

There some shrubs at summertime that bear being red tiny cherry like fruits. Unfortunately there's no information on whether they are edible or at least not poisonous. Would've been nice to know, but then I guess they'd all be picked clean.

The specific place I visited was Cape Schank - many tiny rock pools to explore among the bottom of the cliffs.

On my specific visit I saw a gaggle of douchebags ignore the clear and numerous "revegetation zone - keep out" signs and trample over the growing fauna. Don't be like this please - let's respect the beauty of...
