These places sure lose their charm & magic once you're older, and you realise that the animals are anxious, overstimulated, neglected, distressed and sad. Baby animals are separated from their mothers. Thoughtless, disrespectful parents will go to any length to agitate and aggrieve the poor animals just for a photo opportunity with their kids. It's truly appalling, and these parents should be ashamed of themselves. Not only are the animals already confined and crowded in tiny enclosures and poorly kept with barely any of their own space, but when I was here, there were already three of us in the enclosure, and a woman opened the gate, forcing herself and her kid in, and ended up letting out all the goats who were clearly anxious and distressed to get out. The staff member who carried them back in did so very roughly, and did not bother admonishing that mother, which was unwarranted. There should be capacity limits.
It's no surprise that these are the same kids that end up chasing animals, invading their space and being completely unaware of their boundaries - their parents watch them act insensitively towards the animals and do nothing. There is no supervision by the staff, so the poor animals undergo extreme amounts of stress and sensory overload while irresponsible parents do nothing. Every kid should learn how to treat animals with respect, kindness and gentleness, and being aware of what an animal can tolerate. Parents disregard the rules of not feeding certain animals in the interest of a photo opportunity, which again, is appalling.
People act like they are entitled to the animals' attention (which they are not) and get upset if they are 'ignored'. They are animals - they don't exist for anyone's entertainment. Rabbits and guinea pigs are particularly sensitive and docile animals, so it was hard to watch kids chasing them, grabbing them, swarming them and being overbearing and not respecting their space. The staff and parents do nothing, which is embarrassing and deplorable. I agree that there should be an age limit, and staff supervision (by staff who genuinely care for the animals' wellbeing, and who will tell irresponsible parents and kids off and demonstrate the proper way of interacting with the animals and explain rules of what not to do - e.g. no running or picking them up or screaming). This seems obvious, but apparently not to the parents and staff.
However, none of the animals deserve this treatment, and I hope someday they will be rehabilitated to a sanctuary where they can live out their golden years in a calm, open, safe environment, where they are loved, cared for properly and not neglected. In the meantime - for God's sakes don't bring your kids here if you don't teach them how to be kind to animals, and you don't point out bad behaviour (e.g. chasing animals, crowding their space, touching them aggressively). The animals do not deserve to be distressed and terrorised because you're an irresponsible parent. Parents and staff should take accountability and realise actions have...

Read moreMy sister took her kids here quite often; the whole family loved it.
I went for the 1st time last year, for my niece's 10th birthday. It's extremely child friendly, and the layout makes it very easy to keep an eye on them! There is plenty for the kids to see and do; lots of space to run, and a great little play ground. The animals are calm and seem to enjoy the attention.
The kids' party went so well that my sister had HER 40th there :-) Again, there are various areas catering for different sized groups; it's perfect for a grown-up's party because no-one needs to hire baby sitters, ('though decorating, food, etc. are up to you; the bbqs, however, are a decent size and we had no problem with them.) Prices from visits, to area hire for parties, are all very reasonable.
Good family outing. Great place for kids to actually meet and interact with animals/livestock. There's a small indoor 'petting zoo,' as well as shows starring some of the farm animals.
The staff were friendly and very helpful!
*ACCESS: I require a walking stick to get around; and even for the regular visitor, this is DEFINITELY a 'comfy shoes' place; but I had no difficulty getting around. The paths are wide, and the unmade/dirt paths were pretty even. They might be a little bumpy with a wheelchair, but are by no means an obstacle. There were also several sealed paths, depending upon where you...
