Sherbrooke Falls is one of the most beautiful spots in the Dandenong Ranges. I could honestly spend all day here. The air is rich and moist, and the whole area has a magical energy.
One thing to note: during my most recent visit, I noticed a lot of grass growing in amongst the fernery. I hadnβt seen it before. After looking into it, I found that this is due to the near drought like conditions we've had over recent months. With a prolonged dry season, some of the usual undergrowth hasnβt filled out, which has allowed more grass to come through. It changes the look of the forest slightly. It's still stunning, but if youβve been before, it might surprise you. Hopefully, the ecology will bounce back soon. I also noticed far less visible mycelium (mushroom/fungus) than usual, which I suspect might be connected to the lack of rain.
Despite that, it's still absolutely worth the trip. And if youβre heading up that way, donβt miss breakfast or a coffee at The Woods Sherbrooke cafΓ© just up the road. A gorgeous little place with...

The left side has smaller paths with plants closer making it more immersive. Eventually as you go further in, there will be no sounds of cars and all you can hear is the tranquil forest. The forest section to the right of Monbulk Road does have two or so steep hills if you are looking for a sweat.
Sherbrooke Falls is a pitiful 30cm drop, don't make it a destination. Technically, the water falls from a higher depth but there is too much debris in the way and the bridge doesn't provide a good vantage point.
The place is too muddy if its rainy. Lyrebirds are a common sight and if you are lucky you will hear them produce the sounds of 5...
