Decent trails, good that they go right out of town. The Epic trail is a tough challenge with some pretty rugged climbing. Blue with some optional Black obstacles - tempting jumps on the descents to bait me into doing something rash while riding solo. The green and blue trails out at willowie forest are fun and flowy.
Be aware that if you're making a trip out of it, Melrose as a town is quiet in summer despite the school holidays. We visited for a few days and would've liked to check out the brewery, cafe, and winery but all were shut. Pubs and servo were open but otherwise no other food options like bakeries.
