Jacka Brothers Brewery — Restaurant in Melrose

Nice venue but the food experience was a bit torturous due the extreme wait. It was getting close to 2 hours for two small tacos and chips which were very overpriced. I could have easily eaten 4 of them. The food was nice enough but it’s simple food which is usually fast to serve and there were many empty tables so not that busy. I didn’t really understand why it took so long. Many people were getting irritated with the wait. There was no apology or any communication. We had to go up three times to find out what was going on. Didn’t even get serviettes for a meal that had no utensils/finger food.

I’ve been to Melrose quite a few times over the years so I was keen to try the new brewery but unfortunately I won’t be coming back for a meal in the future. I was really looking forward to it but alas.

Thanks Dale,Michelle & team for providing a wonderful place to stay and relax. We stayed in the brewers cottage which was charming & cosy. Melrose is a great town in a beautiful valley. A mountain biking or hiking haven for those interested. Otherwise just a perfect location for a few relaxing days in the country. Jacka Brothers brewery offers really cool accommodation located very close to the taphouse & woodfired pizza bar & a short stroll to town centre which has two pubs & cafes. Its awesome. Dale & Michelle have lovingly restored the old Brewery whilst retaining its heritage and built new guest suites in keeping with architecture of the original 1877 buildings.

It's well worth staying here or visiting for lunch or dinner if in Melrose.

Overpriced basic menu and very poor customer service. I paid $27.50 for two tacos and chips, which took nearly an hour from when I ordered to be ready. I asked several times during waiting what was happening with my order and was told each time they were 'only a few minutes away'. My friend ordered the same thing five minutes after me and got their meal 20 minutes before me. It was clear there was no organisation in the kitchen. When my order was finally ready there was no apology or compensation for the long wait. In the time I spent waiting, I could have gone elsewhere and had a much speedier and better service. Very poor dining experience and definitely will not be returning if I am ever travelling...
