Beautiful spot to come to. I didn't know about this place until I saw the sign on the main road and thought "why not". Very well grassed picnic areas with shelters scattered around of various vintages. Beautiful elevated outlook over the lake and surrounding ranges. Very well treed and even a cafe. There is a walk over the dam wall across to the other side, which I didn't make across. I'm a bit scared of these places due to the height of the walls, but it's well worth doing. Overall I was very impressed with this place and will be back to...

Moogerah Dam is located on Reynolds Creek near Boonah, and was completed in 1961. Water from the dam is used for irrigation along Reynolds Creek and also supplies water to Warrill Creek and Warrill Valley farmers through a series of diversions. Moogerah is an un-gated dam, meaning that when it reaches 100 per cent capacity, water flows over the spillway and safely out of the dam. Amazing place to visit when there is no Moon and clouds. Incredible sunset behind the mountains, and then fantastic view of the stars at night. Can get busy, but most people keep lighting to a minimum to enjoy the stars. Oh, and there was a flock if birds sleeping in the tree outside the toilets, heads tucked in. I took a photo while the toilet lights were still on. Birds were deep asleep. Some kids disturbed them, but they didn't fly away, this is the pic when I came back and they were asleep again.
