A very beautiful jetty with many hours of excellent childhood memories for me, of swimming lessons on the old jetty, in the netted swimming pool area, fishing, crabbing, squidding, and watching the fishermen hauling up their catch into the little weighing shed, and Doug the trolley guy, loading it onto the trolley to be taken to the fishermans Coop for filleting and packing ready for sale. Of courseings things have all changed quite a lot since then, but I'm sure this grand old Jetty will still be a source of many fond memories for many generations to come, for all who tread her time...

Monta Bay Jetty is a hidden gem for anyone seeking a serene and picturesque coastal escape. The calm waters and the stunning view of the surrounding landscape make it a perfect spot for relaxation or a casual stroll.

We enjoyed watching the local wildlife and taking in the tranquil atmosphere. The jetty itself is well-maintained, and it’s a great place for fishing or simply soaking in the beautiful scenery. It's also a fantastic spot for families to enjoy quality time outdoors.

If you're in the area, don't miss this charming location. Bring a picnic and spend a peaceful afternoon...

Moonta Bay is located in the Copper Coast region of Northern Yorke Peninsula South Australia, adjacent to the historic town of Moonta and Port Hughes. The area is a popular tourist destination, with attractions including the beach and jetty where children are able to swim in a netted area. The area is supposed to be shark proof but there has been a hole in the net for 20 years. The area is more popular to jump from the jetty into the deeper water. The jetty is also a popular fishing area particularly for those wanting to catch squid

Moonta Bay jetty; one of the greatest landmarks of Moonta. The sea has near no waves; perfect for non-confident swimmers. There is a netted swimming area to keep all large sea-animals out. There are amazing stingrays everywhere around the Jetty! I saw one on my first day there. Then I saw 3 more in the next week. (stingray photo attached) One of the best places to go squidding; I caught 2 squid in 1 afternoon. (squid photo attached) Very nice! And the sunsets; amazing, beautiful and just brilliant (see attached photo)! A MUST SEE!
