Ye Olde Cafe in Moonta looks like the place to go, but the main thing going for it is it's location and great view. I was served by a staff member, who quickly 'un-served' me when a local came in behind me. The customer then asked me if that was OK that she went before me. This was very awkward for the both of us. I ordered the Eggs Benedict with haloumi instead of bacon, due to temporary diet restrictions. The staff member couldn't find the haloumi on the register because she didn't know how to spell it. This took some time and she had trouble putting my order through as she was obviously getting frustrated. In the end, she didn't delete the bacon and just added the haloumi - this came to a whopping total of $32 including a drink. The food came quickly, mostly because there was barely anyone there. The food, however, was quite good with a generous serve of haloumi. Unfortunately, the poached eggs were under cooked and had "snotty" whites which will put some people off.

I really hate it when staff don't know their menu and systems. It's the very basics of what you should know.

Please learn you menu and systems!

There are better and cheaper places to go in Moonta.

Service - poor Food - good Prices - too...

Perhaps expecting too much from a small seaside eatery but the experience was not as good as the Google page made it seem. Staff friendly enough. Coffee nice, 4 out of 5 for that. Breakfast not served until about 9, although they open at 8. Apparently they don't clean the kitchen until after they open. Half the food had cooled by the time it was brought out and wasn't really anything to write home about tastewise. Fish and chips (takeaway) were quite decent though. Presentation/food quality probably equivalent to a 2 or 3 star restaurant, making it a bit overpriced ($60 for two brekkies, see photo as an example). Atmosphere probably the same, about 3 out of 5. Building is a little rundown and crammed inside, not quite the same as shown in the Google page photos. Would make for a good takeaway shop but wouldn't really recommend it as a restaurant, went here a couple times to give it the benefit of the doubt but seemed to be the same every time. Appeared quite understaffed and possibly new management so perhaps they're just trying to get on their feet. Not sure. Might give it a few years and see how...

Very disappointed, false advertising. We booked in Nov for 13 people for Christmas day lunch when we saw add in fb for $36.90 2 courses and $43.90 3 course meals. I confirmed prices, availability of gluten free options and if we could bring Bon bons when I made the booking. On arrival Christmas day the menu price had been changed $54.90 2 courses and $64.90 3 courses. I queried it, showed them a photo of their add I had based our booking on and advised them i had confirmed the price when I booked. They refused to honor the initial price. This change in price added an unplanned $84 to each of the families bills which they could not afford and had to resort to cheaper options the cafe offered. Hamburgers etc. Not quite the Christmas dinner planned. We were unable to book anywhere else despite trying as it was Christmas day, so having no where else to go, we stayed. The food was not cooked properly and tasteless. This ruined our Christmas dinner. My family will never go there again and would definately not recommend this...
