Fantastic place, great size and tasty meals, great location, highly recommended

Originally established as a tourist farm & coffee shop in April 1992, The Red Stag has grown and expanded into a restaurant, function centre, gift shop & farm stay accommodation. It offer visitors a fantastic dining experience which is situated on a 70-acre farm with stunning alpine views in all directions including the beautiful Mount Buffalo national park.

unique property offers great opportunities to feed, touch and learn about deer, emus and ostriches. The restaurant is open every day with our la carte menu featuring venison, kangaroo & emu meat for our customers to try if you are "game". You can also have a sip of our Red Stag Label (Shiraz 2016, Savagnin 2016) while taking in the majestic views of snow-capped Mt Feathertop.

The restaurant is a favourite stop for tours and bus groups who love the legendary Devonshire teas which features our huge scones. The Red Stag is conveniently located just three hours’ drive North East of Melbourne and one hour from Albury-Wodonga.

This is one of the must see attractions in the Mount Buffalo national park. The last few kilometres is a gravel road with a some crazy turns but it's all worthwhile to see the amazing near 360-degree view of the surrounding.

The road itself is quite interesting and along the way, you will be mesmerised by some of the amazing rock formations you will ever see. The sunset from here is just spectacular if the weather is clear. Due to it's popularity, the Horn picnic area can get quite busy especially during sunset time and the parking space is very limited.

If you are fit, you can even try walking up to the Horn lookout to get some awe-inspiring views...

This was one of our favourite spots on mount buffalo. The picnic area is a lovely spot for a sunset if you don't fancy walking to the top, or just for a great lookout.

The walk to the top is not hard at all. Just walk up some steps and well marked trail for about 20 mins and you're there. There are plenty of safety barriers where needed and really good metal steps for the later parts. I would think fine for kids if they like a good climb.

The dirt road up is also fine for non 4x4 cars to get up too. I wouldn't walk the dirt road part!

There is a really nice drop toilet at the parking area at the bottom before you reach the...

Possibly one of the greatest mountaintop views in Victoria that doesn't require an insane amount of hiking. You can drive all the way to the picnic area in your car, though the last few kilometres are unsealed, but generally accessible in a 2WD when the road is open. The picnic area is a bit small and it's right next to the car park, however, there's a magnificent view of rolling mountains. A short 15 to 30 min walk leads to the summit, where you get a 360 degree view of mountains. The walk involves stairs, however anyone of reasonable fitness should find it manageable.
