Bombo Beach is without a doubt one of the most stunning beaches in Kiama—rugged, expansive, and incredibly scenic. It’s also a fantastic spot for experienced surfers, with consistent waves and plenty of space to catch a break without the crowds. However, it's important to note that this beach is not patrolled (unless it’s summer) and the presence of strong rips makes it unsuitable for inexperienced swimmers. If you’re not a confident swimmer, it’s best to enjoy the beauty of Bombo from the shore. That said, it’s the perfect place for a walk, surf, picnic or simply to soak up the raw coastal beauty that makes this part of the South Coast so special.

Stunning beach overlooking the Kiama city. You can see the lighthouse in the distance, especially pretty when it's darker and all the lights come on. The place is beautiful in the sunset time. Good amount of parking, public toilets and the waves look pretty good. Great place for families.

Beautiful beach. Southern end perfect for Doggies off leashes. Wonderful to walk along and explore. Easy multiple entries. North and South

Bombo Beach is a stunning stretch of coastline located just north of Kiama on the South Coast of New South Wales. Known for its raw, untamed beauty, this beach offers golden sands, powerful surf, and dramatic rock formations that make it a standout destination for nature lovers and photographers alike.

The beach is popular among experienced surfers due to its consistent waves and exposed conditions. The surf can be intense, so it’s best suited for confident swimmers and surfers, especially outside of patrolled hours. During the summer months, lifeguards are usually present, offering a safe swimming area for visitors.

What sets Bombo Beach apart is its striking volcanic rock formations at the southern end. These ancient basalt columns create a surreal, almost otherworldly landscape—perfect for exploring or capturing on camera during sunrise or sunset.

Bombo is also pet-friendly, with a designated off-leash area making it ideal for dog owners. Public amenities including toilets, showers, and parking are available, adding to the beach’s convenience.

With its combination of wild scenery, surf culture, and natural charm, Bombo Beach is a must-visit for those seeking a unique coastal experience. Whether you’re there to surf, explore, or simply relax, Bombo offers something memorable...

One of the best and more peaceful beaches in the Wollongong area. Parking is allowed until 9pm after which the gate closes so you can't access the beach after that time. The beach is just a 4 minute drive to Bombo Station, however if you drive from Bombo station to the beach, it will take you around 7 minutes to reach. The beach is clean and if you walk a bit further up the hill, you will have some picnic tables and chairs. There's also a public restroom. The place can get quite crowded on weekends and weekdays too. But do make it a...
