Absolutely gorgeous beach. 4wd access only to drive on it with a permit required from Port Stephens Visitor Information Centre
The sand is pristine, and the dunes are quite a sight that can't be captured by photos.
To see the dunes you need to walk or take a tour, no driving on your own.
The last half on the Williamstown side gets fairly soft so be prepared or don't go that far. The sand can make noises as you drive through so don't freak out.
All over very worth the visit if you are in the area. Way better than Bribie island and extremely quiet...

Watch out for the quag bike riders leaving though on the gravel road. We were pulled into a bay off the side of the road to reinforce out tyres and was sprayed with rocks as one flew past at a crazy speed. Thats what the sand and dunes is for. Read moreI checked online for information on whether we could take the dogs on the beach. It seemed ok to take them. Bought a yearly pass and headed to the entrance, only to be told we couldn't go in with our dogs. There is a short section of beach that you can take dogs onto, but that is accessed from the Anna Bay end about thirty minutes north of the main entrance.
