If you're scouting the north east of Lake Macquarie for easy and free outdoor leisure activities, this may be a place to check out. Green Point Reserve boasts many kilometres of well maintained walking paths that are both wheelchair accessible and good for families. Along its many trails are several viewpoints and seats where you can sit back and enjoy views of Lake Macquarie, as well as picnic tables for those BYO family days. The path also leads to a couple lookouts that provide views from Swansea all the way over to Toronto.
Only downside to this reserve is if you are a dog person. Dogs are not allowed in this area, even if on a lead.

Read moreSuch an excellent adventure! You can start at either end of the track and have the option to take the multiple Bush trails or stay on the footpath. We started at the Greenpoint entrance and for the first kilometer were walking along the water. There are toilets at both ends of the main tracks and there's one in the middle. It takes roughly 30 minutes to stroll through. Such beautiful scenery, with a couple of lookouts to enjoy aswel as a couple of picnic areas. Footpath track is pram friendly. No dogs...
