The Boat Shed Bar — Restaurant in Newcastle-Maitland

With 16s undergoing yet another renovation, it was time to try something different and go with The Boat Shed. It offers a few seating options - high stools with tables, couch and coffee tables and mostly regular tables. You can get a small view of the water on one side. Menu is available online and offers some diner-style options like chicken wings, nachos, southwest burger etc. The food suits the bar environment well and is reasonably priced. If you're interested in sports and happen to have bad eyesight, this place is for you. The main TV is absolutely enormous to say the least! A good place to catch up with friends, family or just hang out and have a drink while watching some sport or having a chat. Wheelchair-friendly and with adjoining amenities and proximity to other meal options and cafe if you're perhaps looking for a dessert option (i like the thickshakes at the cafe). We shared space with some newfound friends .. last Thursday evening ✅ all staff were very accommodating and efficient …. A credit to 16s ✅ the atmosphere was enjoyable and fresh

We LOVE a good pub atmosphere with NACHOS and a bevvie

The photo of the nachos looked amazing …. So we ordered …. The real thing was dreadful

A thin layer of nacho chips Masses of TOMATO SAUCE not salsa A few beans and a masses of jalapeño That’s it …

No sour cream or guacamole… No mince or plant based filling … It was something my 2 year old grandson would have served up ..

I have been to the boatshed a few times but more recently the food has become disappointing. I got a burger today as did other people on my table and the burgers were really dry (meat). The chips were also somewhat stale (as if the oil they'd been cooked in was old). I didn't complain at the time as we all had the same experience and just presumed that that was the quality of the food served. I'm not sure why the drop in quality has occurred as I used to really...
