Nobbys Lighthouse is such a peaceful and beautiful spot, sitting proudly at the edge where the land meets the sea. It feels like it’s been watching over Newcastle for ages, standing strong and calm no matter the weather. The walk up to the lighthouse is just as lovely — the ocean on one side, the city behind you, and the sea breeze gently brushing past as you walk along the breakwall.

The beach nearby is wide and golden, with waves that roll in so softly it’s almost like they’re inviting you to stay a little longer. The view from the top is breathtaking — sky and sea blending together in endless shades of blue. It’s a place where you can sit in silence, watch the horizon, and feel completely at peace.

Nobbys Lighthouse and the surrounding beach make Newcastle feel like a coastal postcard — simple, stunning, and full of charm. A perfect place to slow down, take a deep breath, and just...

Nobbys Lighthouse in Newcastle is a historic coastal landmark that offers stunning views of the ocean and harbour. Located on Nobbys Head, the lighthouse has been guiding ships since the 1800s and remains an iconic part of the city’s coastline.

The walk to the lighthouse along the breakwall is peaceful and scenic, especially beautiful at sunrise or sunset. It’s an easy and relaxing stroll, with waves crashing on either side and seabirds flying overhead.

On weekends and public holidays, visitors can walk up to the lighthouse itself, where you’ll find a small gallery and friendly volunteers ready to share its history. It’s a perfect spot for a quiet escape, photography, or simply soaking in the sea...

We visited around midday on an overcast day. Parking was free and we found a car park straight away. Kids played on the playground and work out equipment (beam, bars, monkey bars) then we walked to the lighthouse. You can only walk past it on the breakaway path - no entry. Nice photo opportunities though. The breakaway path continues further down. Smooth path suitable for prams. Lots of rocks on the side so watch your kids. Waves crash against the rocks occasionally. Views at the end and then walk back. Gets very windy. Walk back and ice cream van is around sometimes. Good location to swim between the flags...
