Easy access with good parking, at several access points. Great facilities in connection to bar/tavern of the local Surf Club, which also covers a small spot of life guard surveillance for swimmers. Make sure you are not entering the beach of the swimmers part with your dog. The guard had some harsh words, because our dog tried to follow us. All the other wide and long beach allows dogs for a walk or play. Please pick up after your pooch! In the back of the dunes are great boardwalks, a creek and a little sweet water pond to get your dog "sandfree" with a swim.

its a beautiful beach with some lovely scenery and lots of access. dogs and horses are allowed on certain sections as are 4x4s although you may need to contact Belmont Wetlands State park via their website for rules, regulations and a permit. the 3 main problems with this beach is frequent rips, the odd shark (drones are used to patrol for them) and soft sand causing many novice 4x4 drivers to become bogged and stuck. the old shark tower and life saving club have some great history and the tower is a fantastic spot for photographs.

What a beautiful beach! My dog loved it and it’s such a long beach that you don’t feel as though it’s busy even if there’s a few people there. There’s a car park there which is quite small but a lot of street parking around if needed. The walk to the beach is really nice and different pathways towards the beach. Would highly recommend if you’re going to take your dog there. Hardly any rubbish on the beach as well. Would recommend going in the evening to see the sunset.

UPDATE 01/01/2021 You can only get a beach permit online.

The blacksmiths entry is permanently closed so you'll have to get on from the Redhead.

Camping on the beach is NOT permitted. You can camp on the side of the road that leads you on to the beach just before the beach entry. Im glad to say there are now permanent toilets which are located near the camp ground. At first I thought moving the camping area off the beach was a terrible idea but you are covered by trees, the wind was howling on the beach but the camp area was still and calm. Also the beach now looks amazingly clean. Ive camped on this stretch of coastline from Blacksmiths to Redhead for years. I went camping there over the weekend and was shocked to see all the sand dunes are now fenced off all the way from Blacksmiths to Redhead. Driving on the beach is now only allowed on the beach front & with a new speed limit of 30kph. The beach is patrolled by a Ranger but once he clocks off for the day all the hooligans come out and race down the beach doing in excess of 100kph. So be extra careful if you're fishing after dark. Also watch out for...

Worst weekend ever. I'm really angry I brought a annual pass because I will never go back. I'm really thankful I didn't take my children. Drunk P plate groups (multiple different ones) music as loud as they can partying all night in camp areas, doing donuts 1/2 mtr from other campers tents and cars and flying up and down the beach all night with people in the back of Ute's. I honestly don't know how someone didn't die, they were so drunk they fell out of the cars while trying to get out of the drivers seat. Police were called multiple times but didn't respond for 6 hrs, not there fault, they were busy, but rangers should be...

I had a wonderful experience at Redhead Beach with my family and our dogs. The off-leash area is massive, and it's clear my dogs love the freedom it provides. It's one of the biggest beaches in the area that welcomes dogs, making it a perfect spot for pet parents.

On a hot day, the beach offers a refreshing swim for all. However, I'd recommend coming in the early morning or late afternoon as there isn't much shade, and the sun can get intense. Remember to wear your sunscreen and stay safe!

All in all, Redhead Beach is a fantastic place for a family outing, especially if you have dogs. Can't wait for...
