Hargraves Beach — Attraction in Noraville

(3.5 stars) Take a short walk down a nondescript sandy path between some houses on Elizabeth Drive, and you’ll find yourself at this little known but wonderful beach, that has some unique characteristics. When our sister-in-law suggested we try it out as it’s always calm, despite it being a kilometre-long, east-facing beach, we didn’t see how that could even be possible. But it turns out it is! Two rocky reefs at either end create a continuous bar that controls wave heights to 50cm max. Freaky.

Hargraves Beach is unpatrolled, but given its special powers it doesn’t feel scary at all. The locals use and love it, they’ve even created a Facebook page for it: ‘Hargraves Beach, Noravillle New South Wales’, but even on Xmas Day there was probably less than 30 people spread across its broad expanse.
