Wirrawilla Rainforest Walk is an exceptional place that offers a serene escape into nature's lush embrace. As soon as you step onto the trail, you're enveloped by a canopy of greenery, creating an atmosphere of peace and tranquility.
Walking through the rainforest, you can't help but feel like you're listening to the voice of nature itself. The sound of birds chirping, leaves rustling in the breeze, and the gentle flow of streams all come together to create a truly immersive experience.
One of the standout features of Wirrawilla Rainforest Walk is its accessibility. Despite being tucked away in nature, it's easily accessible and perfect for a quick getaway. The circuit takes only about 15 minutes to complete, despite the board suggesting a longer duration, making it a great spot if you're passing by or short on time.
While there may not be much else to visit nearby, Wirrawilla Rainforest Walk more than makes up for it with its natural beauty and tranquility. Whether you're looking for a brief escape from the hustle and bustle of daily life or simply want to reconnect with nature, this hidden gem is definitely...
Read moreThere are two main tracks which can be combined for a super track hike. The first track is Myrtle gully, goes for about 8km with slight inclines and about 2-3 hours hiking. Really good shade due to foliage cover along the walk which kept us cool and the place near the creek is even cooler. The 2nd track is the Tanglefoot track. I didn't do that one but understand it is more challenging. If you combine both tracks you can hike about 7-8 hours. There are 3 car parks to begin your hikes - Tanglefoot, Wirrawilla and Mondo (I think is the name). Facilities are limited with only a toilet and tables at each car park. There are no rubbish bins so be prepared to take any rubbish back yourself. I don't remember seeing any water taps so also bring your own water. Also there are leeches at this place so be mindful and perhaps wear long sleeve stuff and bring...
Read moreLove, love, love… who wouldn’t love an overflowing sensory experience of wandering about in a forest? The occasional squelching of mud underfoot adds to the the real grit of connecting with nature. Embracing the sun rays peaking through the occasional forest breaks, this walk is worth the drive out. I took the 10km Tanglefoot trek this time which is 2-3hours return but next time I’ll try out the shorter trek in the hope of reaching a nice view at the end.
My only comment with the Tanglefoot trek is the end was a little underwhelming but as my family member reminded me…”It’s the journey that matters” and in this case that is definitely true.
If you are yearning to hear absolute silence, you will be rewarded. Head out just after lunch when hardly anyone is about and you will be treated with the overwhelming bliss of nature’s...
