Our stay at Heron Bay was very up and down. We stayed for 3 nights, the first 2 nights we were at one first sites and 3rd night we were at a site much further down the track. We arrived and it was hard picking a spot, I didn't think I could get my car further so we set up where we could. First night was lovely, nice and calm and quiet neighbours. 2nd night the weather came and turns the ground into went clay that stuck to your shoes every step. The weather was crazy with wind breaking gazebos and blowing everything around and the next day was very similar. We decided to go adventure past the gate and found an amazing spot further down the track (best for 4wd but can get sedans through). We decided to move our camp for the last night. The new spot was calm, good ground (even with rain) and alot of trees around the area to block the wind. Although we have now got some funny stories to look back on we enjoyed the second spot so much more than the first. We will be returning to do a full weekend in the better spot. About the area, there are toilets but they are closed down, fishing is great, shrimping is awesome too, locals are all nice and there's a pub a couple minutes down the road, we didn't eat there but alot of people have recommended it. For the first site 2 out of 5 stars For the second site 4 out of 5 stars

Down track from pub t intersection turn left over the bridge long drop dunny. Another spot if turn right at t East of house. No facilities but close to river. Cockies were noisy mornings and evenings when we were there. Early September.

Adjoins the neighbouring Overland Corner Reserve, and you can drive between them, but has sealed road access most of the way in and an grassy area away from the water, with the cliffs as a backdrop.

A great place to camp if you could find a place to park up. We ended up moving back up onto the top of the riverside overlooking the river from on high with scenic views sharing with others who couldn't fit in below on...
