From a travellers and a Green thumbs perspective I think it was the perfect place to rest and recalibrate after a long 8 hrs of driving.

Excellent amenities that cater to everyone. Shaded kids state of the art playground, safe surfaces, water bubblers, heaps of covered gazebos with solid tables/seats, free gas BBQ's as well as a shallow artificial creek with big fixed umbrellas to seek refuge from the heat.

Huge open lawn areas, gentle walking paths that were bitumen and close to food shops for restocking the pantry, vehicle refuelling and repair services.

Impressive overall native plant selection and landscape layout and very well maintained.

Very close to the CBD and Fitzroy River.

Highly recommend you google search the directions...

The Kershaw Gardens is a wonderful place for the whole family. There are walking paths all over that take you on an excellent stroll through beautiful gardens and little forests made up of native flora. In the middle, there is a massive mulit-stage playground where kids of young and old can spend hours playing and have a ball. Right beside that is a mini water park, complete with fountains that everyone can have a splash in. If you need somewhere to walk your dog, then you are in luck as Kershaw Gardens also has a fenced dog park with an agility course and a very large off lead area. Your doggy will have an absolutely great time at Kershaw Gardens. Bring the whole family or just wonder around by yourself, Kershaw is a great and safe...

Well done to the council and all the people involved for such a great park. Beautiful areas for the kids, nice waterfalls, would be wonderful if you turned it into a swimming lagoon? Dog friendly and people friendly. A free 48 hour camping area beside the park. This is great as travellers have a bit of extra money to spend at local businesses, instead of spending that money at high priced caravan parks that I’m finding out most seem to be owned by offshore companies affiliated with blackrock. I hope more councils will adopt this great idea, travellers help support small businesses in the towns they travel through. We have spent that additional money and more in your local area. We probably would have not stopped here...

The park is chalk and cheese. Some areas of the park have been renovated and look brand new.. u walk 20m and the place is over grown with weeds and self seeded weed trees and holes cover with orange cones. There is very little signage or maps within the park with those I did see in need of repair or updating. I feel like the park needs more staff or management that has a better approach to maintaining all areas not just a few special areas. The park is vast, and has lots of mature trees which would be an excellent foundation to create something amazing. Ps... there is a small (like tiny) off leash dog park.. I stumbled upon it by accident.. it has no shade or seating and the dog bowl for water is a white bucket.. why even bother. I

This 50-hectare palm-rich park on the north bank of the Fitzroy River is laid on what until the 1980s was actually a landfill site. The park inaugurated in 1988 and reopened its doors in 2018 after suffering damage in Severe Tropical Cyclone Marcia three years before. If you’re in Rockhampton with the whole clan Kershaw Gardens is a go-to for its superb nine-storey playground, Wyatt’s Wonder Web, equipped with ladders, tunnels, climbing nets and ropes. There’s also an impressive man-made waterfall, a water play area by the river, free Wi-Fi, a sensory garden, picnic shelters, winding walking tracks and a camping site.

A big thanks to Rockhampton Council for this lovely 48 hour rest stop. All Caravans and Motorhomes must be fully self contained with no grey or Black water to be released. Unfortunately this condition is not adhered to by a few irresponsible travellers in small vans (whizz bangs) and a few car drivers. Hopefully the Council will catch up with them. Lovely setting beside Kershaw Gardens and little creek. Across the road is Stocklands Shopping Centre, Anaconda, BP service station and Cinemas. Thanks again Rockhampton. We spent $160 in fuel and meals.
