So for all of you parochial South Australians who have been fans of the Coonawarra for 20 30 40 years you haven’t done it properly if you haven’t been to Raidis Estate and for all of those who are having the pleasure of visiting our wonderful wine region of which we have five or six for the first time listen to this and read this
The Riddoch Highway road upgrade bypassed Penola Which is very sad but ideally aimed at keeping the trucks out of a small town which makes sense
Now if you follow that road you will miss Raidis Estate because it is the last winery before you get to Penola and you need to make a left-hand turn at the end of the magnificent 5km’s of what we all know are some of the best wineries in Australia. You will also get the pleasure then of driving through Penola which is an absolute beautiful little country town with great cafes playground for the kids a terrific pub and you can stay there as well if you want to really have a crack at some of the wineries
If you go left and end up in Raidis Estate you will find one of the best wineries in Australia… Not only are the owners amazing and Hannah the Cellar door Manager or not even sure what her title is but she is a ripper and the place is fantastic
So what’s fantastic…. potbelly stove cool antique/art deco furniture but more importantly we go to the Coonawarra for wine and theirs is spectacular well priced you’ll come away with a bottle of some of the best wine you have drunk in a xx ling time for under $50 without even trying. In fact $50 will get you some of their best stuff so their entry-level is very very well priced well under that
The “Emma” Sparkling is amazing at $38 and I think maybe you might find that could be the owners name as well ha ha but then “the Trip” and the Billygoat reds are amazing as well… in fact there isn’t a bad wine in there collection. Whites obviously feature as well which is great because Coonawarra is traditionally red town but some great whites being produced and rosé as well
No I’m not related no I don’t get discount no I’m not blowing sunshine for the sake of it I genuinely got put onto it by a friend who is a local and I tell you it’s my go to every single time I drive through and I love Rymill and I love Balnaves and I love Parker etc etc and they’re all good but this stuff is fresh and they have an incredible function room as well which I haven’t been part of but I do know people that have been and apparently the pizzas and stuff are also great
So about all I can say just get in there and get on the membership list and get discounted wine sent to you twice a year so you don’t have to drive four hours to get it
Raidis and all your crew especially Hannah… A beautiful soul with an extraordinary knowledge of their Wines .Yes I am a little bit bias cause she listens to my stories 😂 but you are all amazing as are your wines and everything your brand does for SA and the region Also dog friendly so while I had a beautiful glass of wine today old mate wandered around inside living his best life… Seriously put this...
Read moreWhilst recently staying in Penola, I visited Raidis Estate Winery. Wow! What an amazing wine-tasting experience. If I could give more than 5 stars I would. I was with my greyhound so I needed to check if dogs were allowed inside & was immediately welcomed from the moment we walked in the door & was told we could sit anywhere we wanted. The wines I tasted were exceptional & I loved the names of them, buying one of my favourites, the Rose, Laila Unicorn. Usually there are wines I am not too keen on but I was spoilt for choice, they were all amazing. More importantly, I wasn't rushed with the wine tasting, & the measures given were decent measures, which allowed me to know if the wine was to my tasting, which most of them were. Another great point about Raidis is, it is extremely close to accommodation, to allow you to walk back without driving. Raidis is one of the best wineries I have been to: dog friendly; great with children; wonderful surroundings; friendly welcome & conversation & more importantly the wines are exceptional. Definitely worth a visit, you can guarantee you will...
Read moreWhat a fabulous Sunday afternoon we had at Raidis Estate. We had just had an ‘ordinary” experience at Wynns, and popped into Raidis on our way back to the caravan park. We are so glad we did. Hannah made us feel so very welcome. Her knowledge of the wines, and her ability to be super attentive to the various groups that were enjoying the tastings is a credit to her professionalism, efficiency and friendly demeanour. Then there are the wines! We loved the Rose and Riesling, in fact all their wines were very yummy! Thanks for making our afternoon an enjoyable experience. As a side note the measures for tastings at Raidis were 3 times the size of those...
