Penshurst Volcanoes Discovery Centre — Attraction in Penshurst

When visiting the town of Penshurst you will want to take in the views of nearby Mt Rouse. So a visit to the Volcanoes Discovery centre will give you some background knowledge, with tips on what to look out for along the way. It also explains how things evolved after initial eruptions and how vast the larva flow area was. It is really interesting, with exhibits of different rock that has formed. There is information relating to previous famous Volcano eruptions throughout history. The staff are so friendly and helpful...all volunteers..so admission helps with costs. Well...

Really interesting! Though small, the exhibit is laid out well and clearly guides you through the information about volcanoes, with things to read for both adults and children (at appropriate eye level!). I was impressed at the use of technology, especially the interactive volcano map. The video showing the damage the lava flows in Hawaii did was amazing too - it's one thing to read about it, but seeing it really drives home the message.
