Hunter Valley Wine Escape Room — Attraction in Pokolbin

As a bit of an escape room groupie (and a long-time “researcher” of wine 🍷), this place has been on my must-do list for ages and it did not disappoint! The staff were so warm, welcoming, and up for a laugh, which set the perfect vibe from the start.

The escape room itself? Honestly one of the best I’ve ever done. You get to flex your palate skills to unlock clues, and racing against the clock in complete darkness with just tiny flashlights added a fun twist. My partner and I even managed to escape without killing each other (a true miracle 😂).

It’s such a unique and fun experience to slot in between cellar door stops. We’re already eyeing off the Chocolate Escape Room for next time, and the smash rooms are absolutely calling my name. To top it all off, I even scored a bottle of my favourite Tempus Two prosecco at the end 🥂

This place didn’t just live up to the hype - it exceeded it. Highly recommend for anyone looking for something unique, fun, and unforgettable...

It’s called a wine escape room, and honestly we loved the wine aspects of it, but what we weren’t expecting was that it was more of a horror scavenger hunt with jumpscares rather than an actual puzzle room (My wife has a phobia of puppets and clowns to be fair). If they had a horror disclaimer, that would have been massively helpful but there’s nothing about it on their website.

We love escape rooms and have done many in Brisbane, Melbourne and Newcastle, but this one just seemed a bit lazy in terms of set up with a loose overarching plot of a ‘crazy winemaker’. Most clues you find are just left on laminated A4 sheets of paper and there’s not many actual puzzles, just going over the room again and again and answering the riddles on the papers. That being said though the people genuinely mean well and they were very friendly and understanding so if you like horror this may be what you want, but...

The escape room was filled with exciting challenges and extremely fun! Very unique to your typical escape rooms and will definitely recommend anyone who goes hunter valley to give this a shot. Will be an unforgettable experience.

The owner was absolutely generous and delightful going above and beyond. Not only the escape room was amazing but the caring of customers by the owner made it an unforgettable experience.

Will definitely be back to play the new escape room and the new smash room.
