If you want to take a photo do it from the viewing point well before you get to the Obelist. If you make the last part of the walk you’ll be confronted with a fence and beyond that another wire mesh shoulder high fence make it impossible to get a decent shot without that in the view.
The history is probably more interesting than the item itself but it’s worth the walk if you can make it. While there is an excellent paved road up to the viewing point, unfortunately the council has chosen to block that to vehicles meaning you have to walk the last few minutes. This is unfortunate if you have accessibility issues like not being able to walk far. For goodness sake council, open the road and pave a small turning circle with space for a few cars at the end to help those who are currently unable to get that far and see your major...
