Just walked the coastral track from Otford to Bundeena. It was 28km from the station in Otford to Bundeena Wharf. The air temperature was around 30C and we carried 4L of water each which was about right.

This is a very beautiful trail and I highly recommend it. The track is mostly very well maintained (with kudos to the National Park and the volunteers for the hard work they put in) so we made excellent time - typically 4-5 km/h.

The steep climb out of Otford station was a bit of a surprise, and the noise from the variouis tree bugs in the forest at the start was literally deafening. We had to shout at each other to be heard.

Going across the beachs in the first part of the walk was a bit disheartening because the beaches aren't very attractive and there is a lot of trash all over them. Hiking down to the beaches, across them and back up in the hot sun was exhausting and it was a relief to have a nice long stretch across the cliff top.

The second half of the walk (the half closer to Bundeena walk) is much more attractive. If I do this again I'll just do a there-and-back from Bundeena. The beaches are gorgeous with hardly any people on them. The rock formations are amazing and the views are fantastic.

Lovely coastal walk. We went from the bottom of Loftus St, around the heads and through to Wedding Cake Rock, about a 12k round trip.

The start of the walk was the best, a nice beach followed by some aboriginal ingravings and then some stunning views as you round the heads and walk along the coastline. After that the trail goes inland and gets a bit tedious for a while as you trudge up a slight incline through soft sand for what seems like an eternity.

Eventually you get to the start of the wedding cake rock trail and before long you are back on the coastline and it gets more interesting again.

A nice day out for the family, nothing too challenging. Sunscreen is a must and plenty of water...

Excellent place to explore, it's a lot quieter than most coastal walks in Sydney. Very few facilities along the trail so you must bring everything with you. The trail itself is well looked after with clear signage. Some parts of the track is quite steep.

Only thing is if you catch the ferry across you'll need to walk through the streets of Bundeena to get to the beginning of the track.

This is a long trail and cannot be completed in a day. You'll need to camp along the way. You can stop over a few beaches along the way. Just be wary of the wild deer...

The track offers breathtaking scenery but lacks water fountains along the way, with only one at the start in Bundeena entrance. It's crucial to plan and bring enough water to avoid dehydration during the 4+ hour hike.

The Coast track is located in Sydney's Royal National Park and presents an epic multi-day walk between Bundeena and Otford. The walk is epic full of incredible coastal lookouts, swimming spots, seasonal wildflowers. The Coast track can be tackled in sections or, if you’re super-fit, in a day. It's best experienced as a 2-day backpack trip with an overnight stop at North Era campground (advance bookings required). Plan your walk during whale watching season, May to October, for a chance to spot migrating humpback whales. Highly recommended.
