We had an awesome hike on a Easter Saturday and really enjoyed the fabulous coastal view along the hike, complementing with a nice sunny day with blue sky, I canāt think of a better way to spend the day š
We started the hike from Wattamolla parking, went pass the Curracurrong creek and reach Eagle Rock lookout in about 1.5 hours (with plenty of photo stops along the way). Itās a relatively easy (but lengthy) hike which is roughly 8 km (return). The sceneries along the hike are amazing (Wattamolla falls at the beginning of the hike, amazing rock formations, magnificent costal views and the Curracurrong falls next to the Eagle Rock). The hiking path is well pathed all the way to Eagle Rock with a gradual incline (very manageable), well suited for family with kids and elderly people (on a sunny day otherwise the trail might be slippery).
Although there are plenty of parkings, it does get busy particularly on weekends and public holidays so Iāll suggest get there before 11am (note, we were there around 10:20 am and parkings were already filling up fast with only a few spots left in...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWe parked our vehicle at Wattamolla Falls car park and walked to eagles rock. It is nearly 4 kms from the car park. The track is ok when we went but I think in rainy weather, it maybe challenging because the track can get muddy. There is no toilets along the route except back at the car park. You won't even notice the eagle's rock unless you come to the Curracurrong waterfall and look back where you came from. It was then we realised we just past the eagle's rock. Australia tourism needs to put up informational sign so we know what is happening. There is nothing there so make sure you have offline google maps and battery power to know where you are and how much further one has to travel and return back. You will have to pay an entrance fee of $10 to enter the national park. This allows you access for a whole day. We took the long way. There is a shorter way to this point. Don't turn left to Wattamolla car park but continue straight to the other car park and walk from there. This is a...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreItās an easy 1 hour drive from Sydney to the entrance of the walk in Wattamola Beach. Youāll need to purchase a day national park entrance fee $12/vehicle (you can buy ahead or later otw out). Thereās a parking (including disability parking), toilet facility, BBQ and kiosk which opens mostly weekend. I believe thereās a shuttle bus operating at certain days/times transferring visitor from nearest public transportation to the park. The walk itself, the Eagle Rock walk, is an iconic walk of Royal National Park. Itās grade as a moderate, approx 3 hours return walk to the lookout. The walk consists of metal boardwalk and occasionally ascending/steps. Itās a good easy walk for beginner, with beautiful coastal sceneries including waterfall and creeks, and of course the eagle rock itself. The NSWNPS has done a lot of works over years as itās a very popular walk inside the RNP. Note, the walk is not...
