This Little Zoo is not to be missed. Parking is either in their smaller car park or on the quiet no through road. It is geared to young families and is although on par with larger zoo admission prices it will not disappoint.

Layout. Walk paths wide and well shaded, built in rainforest area with lovely large trees and some very nice buildings about. The pathways do help you get about each area and also help to keep you from waking on the grassed areas. I was impressed by the tidy presentation.

Conference and wedding options are present and could be used for a refreshing change to a boring backdrop to your next conference.

A few of the exhibits were undergoing revamping or repair, good to see this and made you know the money you pay is going back into the place.

Staff, From the start polite and friendly staff, would say they all deserve a mention on their politeness and their attention to visitor’s especially younger ones. The staff are an asset to the zoo.

Animals. Lots to see and also some that impressed me. The favourite for myself was the wombat enclosure and the burrow habitat was especially good. Being able to see an animal sleeping soundly and mostly sleeps (14 hours) was great. It was well done. A few younger ones may need a step or a helper to see over the fences in places but it also worked for allowing the animals a barrier from kids.

The wallaby species on display will melt your heart and it’s well worth purchasing the feed at the entry for them. If it is a quiet time be prepared to be surrounded by them all keen for a nibble on the food. It will also encourage some ducks to follow you too.

Cafe and food

A modest offer of foods are available and GF is mentioned on the list. Ice creams and hot foods are available and a selection of cold foods for quick purchase too. Coffee is not too bad and I enjoyed my flat white even if it had too much froth.

Gift shop. A well laid out area with good selection of gifts to remember the zoo are present. I was impressed with the selection and prices are on the upper side but remember the money is going to a good cause (except for some cheesy items) all were quality and worth while purchases.

My overall impression on this zoo.

Loved it, I was with my wife and my 9yr old who was enjoying lots of exploring and seeing some superb animals up close. I would happily come back here as I felt it would be worth another visit in a more in season time. I’d recommend you going and would happily make it a weekend...

It was an absolutely fantastic day out! From the moment we arrived, we were impressed by the well-maintained grounds and the obvious care taken for all the animals. The koala exhibits were a definite highlight for us. It's truly a privilege to see these iconic Australian marsupials up close, and the Billabong Zoo's residents were incredibly active and engaging. We spent a good amount of time just watching them munch on eucalyptus leaves and occasionally stir for a sleepy pose. The keepers were knowledgeable and happy to share interesting facts about their conservation, which was an added bonus. Beyond the koalas, the wildlife at Billabong Zoo is incredibly diverse and well-represented. The leopard enclosure offered thrilling views of these magnificent big cats, showcasing their sleek power and elusive beauty. We were mesmerized watching them stalk and explore their habitat. Just as impressive were the lions, whose majestic presence commanded attention. Their powerful roars echoed through the zoo, adding to the authentic wild atmosphere – a truly unforgettable sound! The vibrant parrots added a splash of color and cheerful chatter to our visit. Their intelligence and playful antics were a joy to observe, and we loved seeing the variety of species on display. For those who appreciate the slithery side of nature, the snakes exhibit was fascinating. The collection was impressive, with a good range of species, and the information provided helped us appreciate their unique adaptations and importance in the ecosystem. And indeed, the "soo many" other animals were just as captivating! We saw everything from kangaroos and wallabies to various reptiles and birds, all seemingly thriving in their environments. The zoo's commitment to animal welfare and conservation is evident throughout, and it made for a truly enriching experience for the whole family. Billabong Zoo is a must-visit for anyone looking for an engaging and educational encounter with wildlife. We left with lasting memories and a deeper appreciation for the incredible creatures that share our planet. We can't...

I wouldn't call this a great zoo but the keeper talks are very very good. They feel very personable because there's not a lot of people. It's almost like you're getting your own tour of the park if you follow the keeper talk schedule for the day. I definitely recommend the lion and crocodile show. The meerkats were absolutely adorable. The keeper placed mealworms against the glass so theyd come right up to you. It was amazing to watch. You can also pat a dingo and a crocodile which is very fun for the kids and It's a pretty neat photo moment if you've got your camera ready.

Some of the enclosures seem way too small and run down for these animals. I'm sure all the animals are being taken well cared of but I think this places needs a huge overhaul. Everything needs a bit of TLC as well. I think some more signs with more information on the animals would go a long way. Maybe some signs with each of the zoo animals names and little bits of info on how they came to be at this particular zoo. I know my group would have enjoyed reading their stories. I think a few more donation boxes would also be a nice inclusion.

You can bring a packed lunch and there's a few tables to sit at which makes for a good break between keeper talks. Make sure you bring the insect repellent because the mosquitoes are everywhere. This isn't a huge zoo so don't expect a full day out of it unless you want to take it very easy. Try not to rush it and just have a good look at each animal. We spent about four and a half hours here. You could definitely do it quicker if...

The zoo is a great cost effective day out for the family. The kids park is great as you can burn the little one’s energy off. Just a few things to note, we noticed that the front reception man was lovely to deal with, however it’s evident that he isn’t big on kids as they touch all the toys for sale. His way of expressing to them not to touch should be assessed. Maybe going over and engaging with them he would get a better outcome from them. The front entrance has an entry and an exit only sign but people just head to the exit to enter and it was causing unnecessary communication from the staff to the customer. We think a small gate at the exit that only opens one way would fix that issue for them. The food was great at the cafe. There seems to be a bit of chef verses front of house attitude, the chef seemed to use her position over the juniors. We requested some tartare sauce, we were told $2.50. Now we don’t mind paying for anything but given all we needed was a little bit it was a bit hefty since we just paid $180 in food and drinks. We didn’t even use enough to make it lower than the rim of the ramekin we were supplied. May we suggest that you offer a small portion of sauce or if people would like to pay for a large portion for $2.50. Or ask the customer at the counter if they would like any sauces with the salt and pepper squid? We had the beef brisket burger it was delicious. The onion rings were yummy also. We will be back.
