On a recent trip to Rubyvale we stopped in at Pat’s Fossicking Park after trying another fossicking place. I have to preface this by saying I’m a novice at photographing gems, but we found over 200 carats of sapphires in 3 buckets (including a 25 carat sapphire that little Miss Rhinehart found). We enquired about having them cut in australia but because they were quite small we sent them O/S to Lamberts. We received back 12 beautiful little sapphires. The photos don’t do them justice. Thanks for a wonderful family memory!

I purchased a very expensive engagement ring from Pats Gems late last year. Within 3 months, diamonds started falling out. I contacted Kerrie the owner and have been trying to negotiate a resolution since then. I was advised by 3 different jewellers that the craftsmanship & design of the ring was so poor, that it had to be remade. The valuation of the ring, was also half of what I was provided! The stress of this, whilst trying to plan a wedding had been immense. I have had 15 text messages, additional multiple emails and phone calls screened and not returned. Deeply disappointed that Kerrie has refused to speak to me, or offer any sort of refund or compromise after l had spent thousands with her business! I have been patient and kind throughout this time and just want a resolution. None of this is ethical!!

We went here in a recommendation because it was raining and no one else was really providing wash buckets. Pat and the man helping with the sifting were very friendly (kitchen staff could do with some customer service training). Everyone we seen while we were there finished with a little bag of sapphires they had found. Don’t miss it while you’re there. Check out more at: @ultimateaussiebucketlist (insta, FB, web)

I recently visited Pats with my family. It was a great experience, and there was plenty of help at hand to teach us how to wash and what to look for. There is a licenced cafe, which serves up really good food. The gift shop is comprehensive and reasonably priced. Unfortunately we didn't find our fortune lol, but we did find plenty of smaller sapphires to take home. I can see why people catch the bug for fossicking

Fantastic experience at Pats Gems! The staff were so friendly and helpful, and showed us the best way to find sapphires! We parked our caravan out the front and bought two buckets. We got quite a few sapphires from just two buckets! The carrot cake and wedges from the cafe are also so delicious. Would highly recommend spending the whole morning here!!!

Lovely cafe! We had a lovely (Merlo) coffee and terrific caramel slice for afternoon tea at Pats! There were lots of other options on the menu and in the display cabinet for breakfast/lunch/afternoon tea too! There are lots of souvenirs and rocks in the shop and if you have kids in tow, they will have fun fossicking and sieving for sapphires.
