A Hidden Gem for Paddleboarding and Kayaking (BYO Equipment)
Deep Creek, located next to Narrabeen on Sydney’s Northern Beaches, is an incredible spot for paddleboarding and kayaking—especially if you’re looking for a peaceful escape into nature. The calm, sheltered waters make it an ideal location for both beginners and experienced paddlers. Since it’s a quieter part of Narrabeen Lagoon, you won’t have to worry about heavy boat traffic, making it a safe and relaxing place to explore.
One of the best things about Deep Creek is its beautiful natural surroundings. As you paddle, you’ll often see plenty of birdlife, including pelicans and herons, and if you’re lucky, you might spot fish jumping out of the water. The area is especially stunning in the early morning or late afternoon when the light reflects beautifully off the water.
However, it’s important to note that there are no rental facilities here, so you’ll need to bring your own paddleboard or kayak. The water quality is generally good, though it’s best to visit after a period of dry weather to avoid any runoff affecting the creek.
There’s easy access with a grassy area near the water, making it convenient to launch your board or kayak. Parking is generally available nearby, and the spot is usually quiet, adding to its charm.
If you have your own gear and want a tranquil paddling experience away from the crowds, Deep Creek is absolutely worth visiting. It’s a fantastic hidden gem for nature lovers and water sports...
Read moreSuch a beautiful reserve. Amazing waterfall. Dogs love it here. This is where local dog training takes place. Watch for ticks and if walking the trails, red bellied black snakes are common on the other side of the timber bridge at the waterfall end of the park. Lots of dogs off leash. Lots of people too sometimes, other times completely deserted. Take advantage of the pedestrian walkway which loops around underneath the bridge on the Wakehurst Parkway connecting Deep Creek to the Narrabeen Lagoon loop Track, which in my opinion is a stunning walk, great scenery, amenities never took far, and cafes and shops as the track intersects with Pitttwater Road in Narrabeen breifly. Still amazed at the job the council did with the bridges and design of the track, I have to say, its nice for a change to be able to applaud the wonderful work and express my sincerre gratitude to the council. They nailed it, and they managed to open up to the public a part of the Northern Beaches so beautiful to see, but was relatively unrealised by so many of us until then...
