Read moreAwesome place for play, especially for primary aged kids.
Play areas are quite far from any kind of comfortable seating for easy supervision, so be prepared to sit on the ground or bring something comfortable to sit on if you need to be close to watch over littler kids.
Loads and loads of sand play, plus some water pump play, so expect sand and maybe bring a change of clothes. Two long flying foxes near a good slide and sand area near to the sand area with the lizard log itself. Good hilly walks, lovely natural feel to the whole setup. Respect to the designers and builders who put this one together.
The nearby(ish) cafe is extremely basic in its offerings but does have some hot food. Practically deserted on weekdays, which is nice.
Be careful re kids' feet in the sand. Shoes advised. In only one visit, we encountered glass and a cigarette butt in the sand, plus a variety of litter (although compared to the total space, this was an acceptable ratio).
Great shade, but definitely worth sunscreen in the sunnier months if you can't nab a shady spot.
Multiple parking locations, good road access off a roundabout, but watch for the sign because the road sign doesn't show the entrance, even though your GPS would know it's there. There is an overflow parking are for the busier days, but it's very far from the playground.
Would say 4 stars for small preschool or younger kids, 5 for bigger kids. I want to give it 4.5, but I'm going with 4 because of the seating being limited and the difficulty with...
Read moreThe main reason to come here is so your kids can enjoy the playground. It's not your typical swings and monkey bars playground but a nature style one, which can also be called, the sand filled playground. One section has two tyre swings and a spinning disc that multiple people can go on. Next to that is a sand excavator which requires a bit of strength to use, so be prepared to help the little ones play. There are three of them, one of which is broken. There is a water pump, for kids to well, pump water, and that's the extent of the water based play so watch out for some water and sand mixing action. There's only one big slide, and you have to climb up a rock staircase to get there. When we were there, kids were throwing sand onto the slide as other kids (including mine) slid down which I'm guessing happens a lot because I'd probably want to fill the slide with sand when I was their age. We soon left that area to go to the quietest and tamest area. A giant sand pit with wooden stumps for you to walk along. Good for very young kids to experience sand and walking along stumps.
Otherwise there's toilets, lots of grassland and paths to ride bikes and scooters. On Saturdays there's a market with jumping castle, petting zoo and pony rides so that's some variety to add to this park.
I'll be back again and again over the years to the point that my boys will one day be the ones throwing sand on the slide, because that's...
