Washaway Beach is a nudist beach that offers exceptional views out Sydney Harbour directly east. It is called Washaway Beach because it periodically loses all of its sand. This typically happens when there is an east coast low and strong easterly waves and currents strip the beach of its sand. Even when the beach has no sand it is possible to sit on rock platforms, except when there is a heavy swell. Be very careful climbing down to the beach, making sure you use the holds carved into the sandstone. Washaway has been used as a nudist beach for many years, particularly after Reef Beach lost its status as a clothing optional beach.

Australia is full of beaches everywhere and this one we could say it’s just one more into that list, but we wouldn’t be fair to its beauty. There is a path to arrive to it that it’s slightly tough at some points but with good shoes should be enough ( I was actually in flip flops) and at the very end you need to climb an easy wall ( at least in the walk I know ). Anyway, the beach is stunning and never too crowded and it kinds of give you the feeling of being completely on holidays while you were 10 min before stuck in the traffic. I really liked and I hope you will do if you ever have time to pay it a visit.

Pretty big beach with lots of room to roam and a huge cave to protect you from the rain and sun!! It's an "unofficial" nude beach which is even better. Definently only for capable walkers, the track down is a bit rough and to get on the beach you have to climb down the cliff face which is safe but a bit steep. Remember to take all your rubbish with you, we dont want our beautiful beaches ruined or sea life polluted and dead.

Please take all rubbish with you!

At high tide the beach is covered in water, and when it is, its amazing. One of the best lookouts in the Sydney region. At low tide it's a beautiful beach surrounded by vibrant bushland, so make sure to visit before it washes away permanently as sea levels rise. The walk to get to the beach is essentially a creek, and can be slippery after heavy rain, making it difficult to traverse. You'll hear plenty of frogs in this...
