The Gap is a plateau looking out to the sea with an interesting view of the mountains and a lake inland. It gives you the first closeup view of the spectacular pillars, but this is not the end of the hike. From here it’s about another 30mins to the Seal Rock lookout and Cape Raoul Viewing Point. Beware that this spot is in the open, has no vegetation cover, is dangerously close to the cliff at some points and gets the full brunt of the wind and rain. Thankfully if you run 5-10 mins in either direction away from The Gap, you can hide amongst small trees from wind and rain. Definitely worth a photo stop here and worth the challenging hike...

On the way to Cape Raoul, you’ll come across this spot it’s absolutely insane! One of the coolest cliffs I’ve ever seen. Honestly, I’d pick this lookout over Cape Raoul itself because you get the full view of the scenery here. The whole Cape Raoul track is listed as 5 hours, but if you go at a good pace like we did, you can smash it in 4. Totally worth the hike...
