If you are planning to snorkeling at the shelving beach please find the info below about the logistic which I couldn't find anywhere else.
Shelving Beach is located behind the southern headland of the Fisherman Beach. It is all natural, which means no facility, no bin, no toilet, so bring gears, food and water. You need to hike across the headland to get there. The track is very steep but short - around 15 mins, the path filled with sharp rocks so you need a proper walking shoe or at least sturdy water shoe.
I recommended to get there as early as possible to as get the rest of the high tide in the morning or else you will be swimming way too close to the corals at low tide in the afternoon - please check the tide info on the day. The water is usually very calm - a bit of current at the edges, there are few buoys where you can use mid-swim to take a rest.
Once done, you can head back to the Fisherman Beach for the facilities - toilets, showers & Cafe.
I found all the mentioned facilities at the Keppel Island Hideaway Resort, they are all free for a to use and Cafe serves nice food at a very reasonable price.
The staffs there are very friendly and if you are the Keppel Konnect Ferry's customers, you can leave your valuable there at the reception before you head out to Shelving beach to snorkel.
There's another public toilets (no shower) near the equipment hire shop, right in the middle of Fisherman Beach - on the way from Ferry to the headland.
The Great Keppel Island is really stunning, and it's a real bargain for a chance to experience the Great Barrier Reef, I only just need to pay for the ferry ticket and that's all! Many workers I chatted to said that the island is really under development right now and big change is coming, so get it...
