Not really sure if the whole boardwalk OE only part is called Urunga Wetlands but it is a really well constructed series of walks. Only issue is the cost it was outrageous and talks g millions to do the Southern section where mining had previously taken place. It is all wheelchair accessible. Shows a variety of eco systems and with stleth wildlife and birdlife can be seen. I like the section outside the caravan park where until Council destroyed then the sea baths were located. It was a great family venue much loved for generations but no Council deemed them dangerous and destroyed them. Never heard of anyone drowning there but not far up the coast Moonee Beach has claimed 4 lives in the past two weeks. They were hoping for a government grant to constrict new ocean baths but it never came. The caravan park used to be a family venue but no the Government privatised our beach and setvup Reflections Holiday Park and leased it to private operators who then charge fees far beyond the normal working family budget. Latest figures put occupancy at 85% mainly due to Grey Nomads so I guess someone has...

lovely spot to chill and enjoy a BBQ or picnic - local council have made quite an effort with a swimming enclosure of sorts which is great on a high tide, floating pontoon, a jetty and new toilet/showers/change rooms - a basic jungle gym for the kids and lots of lush green grass - supermarkets and basic take away a few meters away along with a friendly pub - fishing if you are keen but don't swim in the deeper parts of the river as the local fisherman regularly loose fish to sharks - likewise the beach is NOT patrolled and local knowledge has it that great whites abound (not hard to believe as South West Rocks, a notorious hot spot for great whites) is not far away - I rate this place for it's slower pace and...

Can't belive this little gem is not better signposted. I only found it from a Google suggestion. It is worth the trip and time wondering around the loop path. Reclamation of an ex antominy refining works which left the area devastated by the poisonous tailing. The company went broke and it too community effort to get goverment funding to make the wetlands live again. Early morning best for reflections, I finished about 930 and the breeze had just sprung up,...

For a short easy stroll to stretch your legs on a roadtrip, this is a good choice. With pavement and a boardwalk you can amble through the wetlands to see flora and fauna in abundance and soak in a bit of tranquility before the next leg of your journey. I'm not sure why the pavement doesn't lead all the way to the solitary picnic hut, nor why there is only one, as it would be an excellent spot for a picnic on a clear weather day (it was wet the day I visited)

What an amazing boardwalk! The views are stunning. It took us an hour to walk to the end and back again, as my kids loved exploring and stared at the water for fish and more. They also played on the beach at the very end. In-between the walk are several stairs to get your feet wet. The south path is closed unfortunately as it is damaged due to extreme weather. But even without that part, the boardwalk is worth a D-tour.
