Read moreHey, I like this place because it is so vast and for a wetland spot, it is so tidy. Visitors will enjoy spending some quality time gazing at the blue water bordered by greenery. If you like reading a book or a magazine, bring one along and immerse yourself in the quiteness. There is plenty of bird life. Swans glide past magestically, little ducks, wild hens and coots walk up the embankment and sit around you. If you feed them, the will mob you. It is a good practice not to give them food. Easily accessible by all kinds of transport, the lake surrounds has facilities for all age groups. Best place for a great picnic. Read moreI have walked around here with the Deaf on Tuesdays, being my latest and main attendances at this reserve. We often start up the barbecue after this; it’s lovely under the trees with some seating, really only one table per bbq. The lake is beautiful - a sign that alerts us to the work being done to clean what has accrued in the water and surrounding wetlands over the years is a sobering reminder of our occupation of what was a pristine environment when the Europeans first settled here. The work is forever unfinished. I was disappointed (and a little choked-out) to be walking one morning when spraying pesticides on an area of the wetland (just past that sign aforementioned) was occurring.
