I have been an avid bushwalker for many years, and Whitman Park is one of my favourite places to visit. For over 20 years I have been exploring this hidden gem and recently I went on the Goo Lorto Trail during my weekly Thursday stroll.
As I meandered my way along, admiring the Bennett Brook, kangaroos and bird life, I came across a stunning new lipstick red shelter. Its vibrance caught my eye instantly in the distant, and with its comfortable picnic table inside it was like an oasis in the desert. Just perfect for a rest and my morning tea while I watched the birds dart between the trees and the kangaroos hop by. This new shelter is such a great idea as a nice quiet spot for lunch with family or friends, and the Goo Lorto Walk is lovely hike to do, especially now with this hidden treasure as a rest point along it.
Whiteman Park is an underrated masterpiece of Perth, and this brilliant new shelter is no exception to that. I am so impressed with their staff’s ability to continue to innovate and bring in new ideas to make an exceptional place even more exceptional. This shelter is a great idea and with the new train lines I highly recommend that people put then Goo Lorto trail on their list to visit and make sure you stop by this lovely shelter for a rest and a...
Read moreWhat an amazing family destination! Whiteman Park is absolutely huge and offers something for everyone. The kids had an absolute blast - the playground areas are fantastic, and the Caversham Wildlife Park within the grounds is brilliant for seeing native Australian animals up close.
The Bennett Brook Railway is such a treat - riding the vintage trains through the park is a unique experience that both kids and adults love. The tramway is great fun too! We spent the whole day here and still didn't see everything.
Beautiful bushland and open spaces perfect for picnics, BBQs, and just relaxing. The cycling and walking trails are excellent and well-signposted. Motor Museum was fascinating for the car enthusiasts in our group, and the craft village showcases some wonderful local artisans.
What impressed me most was how well-maintained everything is despite being free entry. Plenty of parking, clean facilities, and helpful staff throughout. The park feels safe and welcoming for families.
Perfect for birthday parties, school holidays, or just a weekend adventure. We'll definitely be back to explore more areas - you could easily visit multiple times and have completely different experiences. Perth is lucky to have such an incredible...
Read moreStopped by after going through the Swan Valley shops and went for a little walk around the township. There was plenty of picnic tables in the area which were numbered, presumably so you can pre-book an area for a gathering. Nice large open spaces with plenty of trees for shade and buggies for hire to pedal around the area. There was also a train that goes to various regions of the park. The Information Center was handy in getting an idea of what to see and do in the area like a twilight bushwalk. The Caversham Wildlife Park nearby but wasn't able to go.
Edit: I was planning on spending a day here but it was rainy so we ended up going to the Bennet Brook Railway and the Revolutions Museum. I did have a short stroll from the museum to the main town area and the park is quite nice. There is a large playground as well as a water park. There is also a few shops along the main road which was interesting like the candy shop and the photograph store. They also do have other activities like a go kart but it was closed due to the weather. The information center was also quite nice to walk around to have a look at the displays. They do have walks in the ware but it wasn't a good day for that so possibly...
