Wingello State Forest — Attraction in Wingello

Having tried Penrose State Forest (all fire trails locked) and read that Benglo State Forest was also largely shut, we tried Wingello. There were still a few closed tracks but the majority was open and a few great little camping spots, went on the public hol weekend and was worried would be very busy but where we found a spot was like we were the only ones there. I went here last weekend (April 2024) on the back of some of these positive reviews. It is State Forest meaning you can turn up and the forest is gone - that was our experience. The two campers at the site looked like the only survivors on earth - the place is completely devastated like a scene from France in world war one - we could not get out of here...
