LOVED We visited Port Gregory and Hutt Lagoon Pink Lakes a few days ago. We had heard that the lake is currently showing it's "summer colours" at the moment (due to it being a bit drier in the warmer months), however, there was still plenty of Pink hues to enjoy this natural wonder. If it looks this amazing now, I would love to see it in the winter and spring time. 😀 We also loved the quirky "Pink Lake" sign that the locals have placed in the Lagoon.
There is a well signed gravel car park on the Port Gregory side of the Lagoon, along with rubbish bins.
WHAT WE DIDN'T LOVE While there were bins in place, it is just a shame that these were either not used properly, or not well maintained (or both). We have been told that the Shire Council is no longer the Custodians of this lake, and this is perhaps a contributing factor to the rubbish and areas along the road that will need some maintenance prior to any major disrepair (for the safety of future road users).
THE OTHER ..... DISGUSTING habit of travellers.... using the bushes as a toilet, then leaving their paper or wipes for everyone to step around. Such an easy fix by taking your rubbish like that with you instead of walking away. Yep, there were endless samples of paper along all walkways leading from the carpark to the lake. So long as "they" get their Insta selfie of this pretty area, don't worry about the mess you are happy to leave for others. Rant over 😀
And yes, would definitely recommend stopping to enjoy this...
Read moreHutt Lagoon, also known as the Pink Lake, is truly one of Western Australia’s most unique and unforgettable natural wonders. Located near the town of Port Gregory, this vibrant pink lake is an absolute must-visit for anyone exploring WA’s Coral Coast.
The colour is surreal – ranging from bubblegum pink to deep red depending on the time of day and sunlight. It’s incredibly photogenic, especially around midday when the hues are at their brightest. There are several great lookouts with easy access, and if you have the chance, a drone or scenic flight gives a breathtaking perspective.
Though there are no facilities at the lake itself, it's well worth the stop for the stunning scenery and photo opportunities. If you're planning a road trip north of Perth, make sure Hutt Lagoon is on your list. It’s a magical spot that feels like something from...
Read moreHutt Lagoon offers a unique, picturesque experience. There’s a lookout point that doesn’t get too crowded, offering plenty of parking space. While there are bins for rubbish, note that there are no toilet facilities, so plan accordingly.
The lake itself shows its iconic pink hue at certain angles. Although it’s said that noon is the best time to capture its color, I found that it was still distinctly pink when I visited around 3 PM. Drone footage from above really brings out the vibrancy.
It’s also possible to walk down to the lakeside for some close-up photos. The views are stunning and the wind is manageable, even without a jacket. While there’s not much else to do, the long journey is worth it for this one-of-a-kind...
