Really tricky place to judge.
The coffee is decent, the chocolate can be amazing if you pick the right ones (the rough ones are the best - coconut, nuts, etc), and they have a crazy good caramel slice and a range of ice-cream flavours.
The environment is okay. It’s a bit gaudy, but there are plenty of knick-knacks around to explore and posters and things to read while waiting for an order. And being able to sit outdoors in the park itself is just perfect!
The food and the customer service is where it gets tricky. I’ve only had a few lunches there, the first was really decent, a couple were okay but nothing special, and one wasn’t very nice at all (all either nachos or potato bakes, so it’s not that it depends on the dish - it depends on the day).
And the customer service is mostly very straight-faced. It’s hard to get a smile out of anyone there. But the, on the odd occasion, you do, and then it feels like a wonderful expert all round. I just wish they’d be a little friendlier and smile a bit more regularly so it could always feel that way. (Update: the last few times we’ve been here, staff have been quite friendly. And we like some of the chocolate, and especially the caramel slice .)
But the location does it and I’ll be back...
Read moreAn employee (who I assume was the manager) came out and told us that we had until 1:45 pm to order our food, even though it was advertised to close at 2:30 pm. If that was not bad enough, she did not realise they had actually already turned off the kitchen equipment by that time. We hurriedly looked through the menu and then got to the counter at 1:42 pm. Instead of admitting her mistake, she lied, and rudely told us that we did not arrive on time, ignoring us when we pointed out the time with our iPhones. Eventually, after much debate, she admitted it was not actually our timing that was the issue - she admitted that she did not realise when she first spoke to us that the kitchen equipment was already turned off. She rudely said that there was nothing she was going to do about her error, and that we would not be served food. I have never seen such disgusting and arrogant behaviour from a customer services person in my entire life. Instead of coming back outside and politely explaining her error, she ignored the issue, then lied to us when we came to the counter. Other reviews agree with the terrible customer service and the blatantly false advertising of closing times....
Read moreA little bit of an old timey shop inside Yanchep national Park. Kind of run down. There's plenty of seating indoors and a few tables outside too. It's kind of a chocolate shop that also does food. They have basic sandwiches and also baked potatoes. They serve coffee, and milkshakes. Around the corner at another entrance they have an icecream kiosk. The chocolate they have is like nut clusters, rocky road, and coconut rough. The sandwich we got - chicken and salad, while basic was pretty good. The salad was fresh and filling was generous, there was quite a bit of raw red onion in the salad. We also got the baked potato with bacon, mushroom and onion. It's cut up boiled potatoes on the bottom, with the other toppings piled on and a big dollop of sourcream and melted cheese on the top. Was nice in a really homely kind of way. Get your food takeaway and enjoy it in the park, there's plenty of...
