Yanchep National Park is a true gem of Western Australia, offering an abundance of natural beauty, diverse wildlife, and well-maintained facilities that make it an ideal destination for a leisurely day out. At just 42 kilometres north of Perth, it’s an easy drive $17.00 AUD Park Entry per car, though I’d advise arriving early to fully appreciate the tranquillity before the crowds set in. The park caters to all levels of outdoor enthusiasts with its nine marked walking trails, ranging from short and easy strolls to challenging hikes over 46 kilometres. Even for those less inclined towards strenuous walking, the park provides ample opportunities to enjoy nature up close. The Koala Boardwalk is particularly delightful, offering a rare chance to observe these iconic creatures at close range, while the daily koala talks add an educational aspect to the visit. For wildlife lovers, the early morning is the best time to visit. Kangaroos can be seen grazing peacefully, and the air is filled with birdsong from an impressive variety of species, including the striking Carnaby’s Black Cockatoo and the elegant White Ibis. Photographers and bird watchers alike will find plenty to capture here. The park also boasts over 570 caves, though only a few are currently open to the public. The Crystal Cave tour is well worth taking, offering a fascinating look at the limestone formations created by underground streams over thousands of years. One of Yanchep’s greatest assets is its picnic and BBQ facilities. The gas barbecues are well-maintained and free to use, and the wooden tables and benches provide a comfortable setting for a relaxed meal. It’s my preferred way to spend a Sunday morning—cooking breakfast while soaking in the sights and sounds of nature. Parking is plentiful, but again, early arrival is recommended to secure the best spots. For those who prefer a meal without the effort, the Yanchep Inn Hotel provides a welcoming alternative, with a beer garden and even a nine-hole golf course for those looking to extend their visit. Chocolate Drops & Tearooms, near the Koala Walk, is another lovely option for a light lunch or a well-brewed cappuccino. With its combination of scenic beauty, wildlife encounters, and well-kept facilities, Yanchep National Park is a destination that never disappoints. Whether you’re after a peaceful retreat into nature or a family-friendly day out, it’s well worth the visit. Just remember—get...

If you're thirsty after walking one of the trails around the stunning lake, they have the Yanchep Tavern, where not only can you get a drink to quench your thirst, but they have food so good it'll genuinely surprise you.
They have a cave which can be booked as a wedding venue! It's gorgeous inside and makes for such a unique experience!
Wild kangaroos roam the park and not only that, they have a gated/fenced walkway amongst the trees where you can see some of the Koalas they're rehabilitating!
Before we purchased the annual pass - which allows you access into all National Parks within Australia for 365 days - we visited Yanchep National Park four days in a row! By the fourth day the attendant at the entrance suggested we get the annual pass because we couldn't stop raving about how much we loved it here!
Even if you don't want to get a bite to eat at the Tavern, they have gazebos you can bring a group or just yourself and make full use of the outdoor BBQ's dotted around the park and have seating to enjoy. You can bring a picnic & a blanket and enjoy the view from the riverbank next to the water. If you're just having a stroll around the park and want to sit for a breather, there's benches to just sit and relax and take a second to breathe.
