Plan for a full day trip. Jackets preferred even in summer. Seilbahnen are expensive. Try trekking one way if very adventures. It's tough though. Can travel to top and trek to another location nearby for approx 2 hours and return. View is amazing and restaurants are available on top which is expensive as well because of the location. It was crowded when we visited. Cable cars are empty if used during odd hours. Cable car from Austria is cheaper than the German one. It takes approximately 10 minutes in cable car to the top for 49€ two way. There is a free museum on the top on Austrian side. There are skiing locations for winter as well. Masks are mandatory for all indoors. If not doing any trekking and only visiting for the view then 49€ might not be worth it. View can be interrupted by clouds so visit in non...

Not cheap but nice views on top when the weather is clear. On the way up we had an emergency break. Cabin was full, people yelling, children crying. The whole package let's say. What annoyed me however was the operator... It seemed like he had no clue what happened and he was touching all buttons like a maniak... When he finally received 2 calls on his cellular the cabin started moving again. In my opinion he could have calmed down the people by telling them the problem was being resolved. But nooo he kept pushing buttons without knowing what he was doing, so it seemed. A grownup man of about 30 years sat down and started crying... His wife had to comfort him. That happened next to the operator. The service in the cabin is...

If you have the cash it is worthwhile to spend. the ride to the top is only 10 mins, but the view is absolutely spectacular. On a bright day you can see mountains in Germany/Austria/Italy/France&Switserland. If you have more cash enjoy the restaurant. The food is good, but the view when seated next to the windows is fantastic. In the summer time there are evenings (usually Thu) when they offer fondue dinners. The night view is different, but as nice (and romantik). Walking up is possible, but it requires a solid fitness and it will take you 6-8 hrs. Not recommended with young children. In winter time you can ski on the plateau (most of the glacier is gone), in summer time this area is...

Very touristic place and a bit expensive for a return ticket (but hey.. you're on a glacier!) At some places it is annoying due to small corridors on top of the mountain. BUT see past this and enjoy the magnificent view over Germany and Austria! If you want to go onto the glacier is is cheaper to buy beforehand. If you are in doubt to do so, an extra ticket can be bought in the tourist shop on the top for around €4 more than in the valley. It is wheelchair accessible but you have to take your time. Food is Austrian style. Good and not to expensive. The big gondola from the Austrian side goes appr. every 20min. We had lunch in the restaurant at the glacier.(picture)
