My family took some persuading to get them to go there but they ended up being pleasantly surprised. For children, the attraction is that it's lots of tunnels and bridges (I think it's 16 each). For railroad enthusiasts, Semmering railroad needs no introduction. We did a roundtrip from Semmering to Payerbach-Reichenau, which is a 30-minute ride for EUR 3.50 one way per person.
