Edit 4 months after: No change or improvement was done. I had to remove one star because of it. :(
Old review: The gym is experiencing significant deterioration. Initially, it was enjoyable, but recently, it has been progressively worsening. Let's discuss the following concerns:
Equipment cleanliness: Due to the limited number of cleaning stations, approximately 50% of individuals neglect to clean the equipment. Additionally, I have never witnessed any staff members cleaning the equipment. The overall cleanliness is unsatisfactory, particularly the locker rooms, which require attention. Inadequate toilet facilities: It is unacceptable for a gym spanning three floors to have a toilet only on the third floor. Consequently, individuals working out on the first floor must ascend to the third floor to use the restroom. Insufficient drinking stations: At certain times of the day, more than 10 people have to wait in line to refill their bottles due to the presence of only one drinking station. Class cancellations: Yesterday, seven people were waiting for the 6:00 PM Yoga class. However, the class never commenced, despite being scheduled earlier that morning. It was silently canceled, and no one informed us about the cancellation, leaving us waiting. Malfunctioning entry doors: The entrance doors are problematic. It is perplexing why the gym opted for the cheapest revolving doors. A simple solution would be to employ an IT student from TU Graz to fix them within an afternoon. The doors are slow and barely functional. Additionally, users are required to scan their cards when entering and exiting, causing delays. During peak times, multiple individuals have to wait to enter and exit due to the two doors. Unacceptable for the price: Considering the monthly membership fees of 60 or 80 euros, these issues are unacceptable. The gym receives substantial revenue, and there is no excuse for not improving the facilities. Unless these problems are addressed, I will not renew my membership next year. Several of my friends are also considering canceling their memberships. Uncomfortable temperature and odor: Certain areas of the gym are excessively hot, suggesting that the air conditioning may not be functioning properly. As a result, there are unpleasant odors. It is unclear if the air conditioning system is ventilating the air adequately. Often, all windows are opened to alleviate the smell and heat. Recommended actions (if the concerns mentioned above are not clear):
Increase the number of cleaning stations. Employ more cleaning staff. Conduct education sessions on proper equipment cleaning for members. Repair all broken items. Install a toilet on the first floor (sufficient space is available). Install a water station on the first floor (water alone would suffice). Notify members when classes are canceled. Repair or replace the entry doors. Install HVAC system filters to eliminate odors and occasionally reduce heat. All of these issues could be addressed within approximately a week, but it appears that no action has been taken despite previous similar reviews. Therefore, I strongly advise you to carefully consider before becoming a member here. Seek input from friends regarding the gym's condition, as they will provide honest feedback, unlike promotional videos.
P.S. The staff...
Read moreREAD THE CONTRACT BEFORE YOU SIGN IT. I'm totally disappointed,I had to cancel. Due to my job that requires sudden trips around the world, , I subscribed the most expensive contract "Silver" which is supposed to be suspended any time. Turns out that it's not really "anytime" as the desk Team told me: it's obvious that my crystal clear questions about the suspension were NOT understood, I guess it's the English. The monthly subscription are taken the 1st day of the month but you need a month in advance to suspend. Technically, it's ANYTIME. But the effectiveness is none. If you are in sudden need, forget the suspension. I ended up paying three months without using the service because I was simply "not in time" with the system. I decided to cancel and still I will be forced to pay 2 (TWO) extra months. So please, read carefully the contract. It's my fault I didn't do it properly. My money is earned hard and I'm aching when I see this form of technical greed. The gym per-se Is very nice, the Team is basically always absent, I've never seen any trainer around checking or correcting wrong postures or exercises, which is the minimum that I expect from such level/cost. Forget doing any form of administration from the desk: human interaction is not considered. You'll be pushed to use the app or web self service. At...
Read moreJohn Reed in Graz is hands down the best gym I’ve been to. I’ve tried other gyms in the area, including John Harris, where I was a member, and the difference is clear—John Reed sets the gold standard when it comes to equipment. Everything you could possibly want, from machines to free weights, is here and in top condition.
The facilities themselves are stunning—modern, clean, and beautifully designed with a sleek aesthetic that makes working out even more enjoyable. The staff is consistently helpful and professional, and the manager, Marcel, is a great guy—always approachable and ready to assist with anything you need.
One of the best parts is the convenience. The gym has its own parking lot, which makes getting in and out quick and hassle-free. Altogether, just a fantastic place to train. Highly...
