I recently had the pleasure of visiting Sigmund Thun Klamm, and I can confidently say it was one of the most stunning experiences I've had in nature! The walk alongside the rushing water, framed by towering trees, was absolutely breathtaking. The sound of the water cascading down the rocks created a serene atmosphere that made our hike truly memorable.
The highlight of the visit was, without a doubt, the spectacular waterfalls. Each turn along the path revealed another beautiful cascade, and the views were nothing short of magical. Just a heads-up: be prepared for a lot of stairs! There are plenty of ups and downs throughout the trail, so wear comfortable shoes and be ready for a bit of a workout.
For those driving, there are three locations for free parking, which is a great convenience. If you have the Zell am See Summer Card, you can enjoy free entry to the Klamm, making it an even better deal!
Getting to the waterfall takes about 15 to 25 minutes, depending on your pace, while a leisurely stroll around the lake will take between 1 to 2 hours. The scenery around the lake is just as impressive, making every step worthwhile. Plus, there’s a lovely restaurant at the end of the lake where you can relax and enjoy a meal after your hike.
Overall, Sigmund Thun Klamm is a must-visit for anyone in the area. Whether you're a nature lover or just looking for a beautiful day out, this place is sure to...

As we ventured through the wooden walkways and bridges, the rushing waters of the Kapruner Ache River accompanied our journey, creating a soothing soundtrack to our adventure.
With each step, we marveled at the rugged rock formations and the lush greenery that surrounded us. The kids were filled with excitement, pointing out various plants and curious creatures along the way. As we followed the family-friendly path, the waterfalls' gentle cascades sparkled under the sunlight, leaving all of us in awe of the beauty before us. Our camera was busy capturing the magic of the gorge and the joy on our family's faces, ensuring that these precious moments would be preserved forever.
The Sigmund-Thun Gorge provided a perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life, allowing our family to immerse ourselves in the tranquility and splendor of the Austrian Alps. Read moreWe went there on a Friday night (2200). That was a special night/opening because it was one of the "Klammlichter" (ravine lights) nights as you can see on the pictures. All the kids get a light stick for free at the entrance.
We went there with a three year old - which was a mistake in my opinion, asI couldn't really enjoy the spectacle. I was more concerned to watch him not feeling into the water (which is really very difficult as security measures are very high, but the survival/protection instinct during a dark, noisy and wet experience couldn't be calmed down). So disregarding this part: you walk a worth staircase up the ravine, the river under you. It is a very special feeling as you can feel the power of the water and knowing if you fall in, everything will be over quick. The reason I deducted one (nearly two) stars is that people are very egoistic and take a lot (!) of times to take selfies. On a staircase that doesn't really allow bypassing. That leads to a huge line of people that stops anytime somebody would like to take a...
