A Day Full of Expectations… and Disappointment This summer, we headed to Austria with the family, ready for adventure and beautiful memories. Our son had been looking forward to one particular outing for days: a visit to a reservoir he had seen in photos and was completely fascinated by. To give him that joy, we decided to take a two-hour drive through the stunning mountain landscape.
The mood in the car was cheerful. But when we finally arrived—after that long, excited drive—we were met with a cold reality: the reservoir was closed that day. No warning, no sign, no notice on the website—which we had checked just the day before.
I stood there, watching a child see his dream fall apart. His face said it all: disappointment, confusion, sadness. And honestly? I felt the same. How can something like this happen in the middle of peak season? Why close such a popular destination without any communication?
We had no choice but to drive back. Two hours, in silence. No cheerful chatter, no plans for the next day. Just that gnawing feeling of a missed opportunity.
Sometimes, it’s not the big disasters that hit you hardest, but those small moments when you wanted to make someone...

You could plan this as a day trip from zell am see or kaprun. Don't forget to bring your camera 😜
The verbund canteen is not so good, the service is extremely slow. We were waiting for almost 45mins to get 3 plates of goulash. Maybe you could visit the restaurant near the bus stop for...
