August 2024 gegen 13:00 Uhr.
🇺🇸: One star for the beautiful view of the reservoir. The food and the staff preparing it were a disaster! I ordered grilled sausages with fries, a dish that should be pretty straightforward. However, the grilled sausages turned out to be "deep-fried Frankfurters" (Vienna sausages), carelessly curled at the ends with a cross-cut (I didn’t want to photograph this culinary fiasco, so unfortunately no photo…). A true delight for the eyes and palate. The fries were okay, considering the overall price of €10.50. The "friendly" lady preparing the food, unfortunately, didn’t know any common greetings like "Hello!" or "What would you like to eat?". (She did speak German, though!) Instead, you were stared at with wide eyes until you finally placed your order. When dishes took longer to prepare, they were sometimes announced with the words "Food is ready!" So, of course, you immediately knew which meal was meant 😉. My tip for everyone who follows: Enjoy the view from above, maybe pack a small snack for yourself, but then it’s better to eat down in the valley, comfortably and most importantly, deliciously (!) at one of the many guesthouses. I visited the mountain restaurant on August 11, 2024,...
Read moreVery crowded restaurant during the summer as this is the only restaurant at this place and the Mooserboden stausee is a pretty touristy place. From here you can do alot of beautiful hikes into the mountains. But make sure to dress appropriately! The weather can change rather quickly and because of the 2000+ metres altitude the temperatures are significantly lower. When the sun is out the restaurant terrace is a great place to sit and enjoy lunch. Restaurant closes pretty early and if you want to make it down to the valleystation, make sure to catch the last bus down around 17.00. This last bus ride takes you all the way down through a long tunnel under the mountain and along the dam....
Read moreWe were in a group and I ordered pancake soup (Frittatensuppe) and the Schnitzel with fries. The soup had those dry short pancake strips you can buy cheap and prepackaged - absolutely nothing I would ever expect at a restaurant. The Schnitzel came with a side of potato salad (tasted like the kind you can buy premade in buckets). We were offered fries on the side which were okay. The Schnitzel itself was highly likely the sort you buy frozen and put into the fryer or oven. It tasted of old frying oil. The restaurant itself wasn't very clean and there was a very bad smell on the way to the bathrooms. I'd avoid this restaurant if you...
