Scenic lake with an easy hiking path around it, which is also not long. Unfortunately, this place can be crowded, especially if weather is fine. Parking can be a problem.

Großartige Kulisse! Guter Ausgangspunkt für eine Wanderung zur Rudolf Proksch Hütte und weiter zu den Wildenkarseen. Bis zum unteren Wildenkarsee dauert es etwa 2 Stunden, wenn man zügig durchmarschiert, ohne Fotopausen. Wer das nicht möchte kann auch nur eine Runde m den See machen. Ca. 45min.

Der Etrachsee ist ein lohnendes Ziel für Ausflüge, Spaziergänge und zum Fliegenfischen. Besonders empfehlenswert ist ein Besuch in der Nebensaison. Der See liegt auf einer Seehoehe von ca 1300 m und ist von hohen Bergen umrahmt.Im See gibt es ein einen größeren Bestand. von sehr schön gezeichneten Bachsaiblingen, welche aufgrund des knappen Nahrungsangebotes selten groesser als 25 cm werden. Für Unterkünfte steht eine nette Fruehstueckspension zur Verfügung, weitere Mahlzeiten bietet eine recht urig anmutende "Forellenstation" an. Mir gefällt es hier ausgesprochen gut, auch Schwammerlsucher kommen hier voll auf...
