I have just visited KTM Motohall and used the Experience package. The museum is very good- interesting to see interactive parts of the exhibition, very interesting to see and hear the bike evolutions including ups and downs of the company. I was genuinely touched by the Heroes expedition especially by the documentary played simultanuesly on all screens of the large room. It is one thing to admire athletes for their achievements but it is an entirely different dimension to hear pieces of them being interviewed with all the frustrations, challenges and animal instincts all humans have. It was very true and inspiring. Whomever came up with this documentary is my true hero on their own. I was a bit dissapointed not to see any reference to sustainability across the entire museum. I am pretty sure that KTM must be having a plan on their own and keep my fingers crossed for their continued success also on the transition. Also the factory store does not offer any motocycle clothes nor the bikes on offer to test both of which I was disappointed with. Second part of my visits- the experience- was short of spectacular. I picked the 890R was given thorough tour of the bike by a competent staff member, prior to my ride (even though I am quite well familiar with the brand and features), was then given a route selection for my tour and... Off I went. And boy was this a ride! The sights were great but the bike, the roads and the way this all made me feel was one of the best riding experiences I had. Hell it was the best day in a very, very long time. I indicated to KTM that I will be willing to buy the bike once it is no longer their demo but apparently they don't accept kidneys as currency. For now at least. If you are hesitant whether it is worth it - don't miss out. Apparently the "experience" is relatively little known for now as it was launched only 2 years ago but this is going to be your best money spend. Good job KTM- ready...
Read moreThe new KTM museum in a architecturaal spectaculair building in Mattighofen. I was there shortly after it opened and there where hardly any visiters. The postive sideeffect of that is that you cab take your time and look at all the display from upclose.
The museum starts with very detailed dispalys from all the engines they have produced from the very start up till the current one, very educational.
The second section displays all the motorcycles, also from the very beginning till the current ones. I did not know the various types of bikes KTM made in the early years.
Moving on to the third section bring to all the there sport achievements. Life size dummies from the riders, completely geared up and the actual bikes they won throphies with. I have to tell you this section quit dark with light and music show highlighting the various riders. It did not apeal to me very much, to dark and to loud.
Onward to the last section of the museum brings you to the developements KTM is currently working on, including electrical bikes.
At the end you exit through the inevitable giftshop.
If you are a KTM or motorbike enthousiast in general you want to...
Read moreOur visit to the KTM Motohall was one of the highlights of our 3.5 weeks in Europe - having visited most of the automotive museums (including BMW, BMW Motorrad, Ducati, Lamborghini, Mercedes, Porsche etc). The Motohall was one of the best, and DEFINITELY the best motorcycle museum.
Simon looked after us, and he was absolutely brilliant. We did the museum, and we hired bikes and went for a half day ride. Simon went out of his way to give us an amazing experience, spending heaps of time with us, answering all our questions (he had amazing knowledge). He gave us a route to ride.
The shop is also fantastic. If you aren’t already a KTM loyalist, the Motohall will go a long way towards turning you into one.
The only areas for improvement is the greeter on reception could have been more welcoming and generous with information, and they really should provide a phone holder on the hire bikes so Google Maps can be used. It’s really hard to enjoy a ride in a foreign country when you can’t see the map while you ride.
Minor details during what was an all round incredible experience....
