If you plan on visiting the waterfall after your visit make sure you stop for a beverage, little snack, or awesome delicious meal of truly authentic Austrian cuisine at the Gasthaus zur Weissen Wand. Conveniently located at the parking lot at the gate that limits access to the waterfall.

Kraftvoll. Beeindruckend. Und irgendwie heilend.

Der Aufstieg zu den Riesachfällen war für mich mehr als nur eine Wanderung – es war eine kleine Reise zu mir selbst. Der Weg führt durch dichte Wälder, über Hängebrücken, vorbei an glasklaren Bächen – und plötzlich steht man da, vor dieser gewaltigen Naturkulisse.

Das Wasser stürzt in mehreren Kaskaden die Felswand hinunter, mit einer Kraft, die man nicht nur sieht, sondern auch spürt. Es donnert, sprüht, bebt in der Luft – und gleichzeitig ist da eine Ruhe, die fast meditativ wirkt.

Ich habe lange dort gestanden. Einfach nur geschaut. Dem Rauschen zugehört. Und gespürt, wie der Kopf langsam leer wird – im besten Sinne.

Der Steig ist gut gesichert, teils steil, aber gut machbar – Trittsicherheit schadet nicht. Und am Ende wartet entweder die Gfölleralm oder das Almgasthaus Riesachfall – beides sehr empfehlenswert.
