Schwarzkogl — Attraction in Sölden

View up top was incredible of course, especially over the side opposite the lake into the valley. Schwarzee was crystal clear, dark as the name suggests, and mountain cold. Invigorating. Parked at Hochsölden and hiked up to the Rottkogelhütte, visited the Kapella, and then over to Schwarzee. The sheep and small lake near the Rottkogelhütte were lovely.

Only downside for us was the hike up which went through ski resorts and construction projects working on a new lift. Recommend that you check for a route that goes through a more remote path before hiking.

Final tip - at the signpost past the Schwarzee look back towards the Kapella. You'll see it framed neatly and exactly between two mountains from the viewpoint....

sind von hochlösden aus mit rad bis zur Rotkogeljochhütte. von da an wurden uns die wege zu steinig und gefährlich, sodass wir uns zu fuß weiter auf den weg nach oben machten. im hochsommer war der schwarzsee bei ca 25-30 grad mit einer dünnen eisschicht bedeckt. am ufer des sees mussten wir sommerlich bekleidet über felsen klettern die ca 1 m mit schnee bedeckt waren. immerwieder sind wir aufgrund der warmen temperaturen im eis/schnee eingebrochen. nach 2 knapp 100-200 m langen schneeflächen die wir durchquerten ging es letzten endes nur noch über große felsbrocken, bis wir am gipfel waren. spitzen aussicht von dort oben. wanderung von der hütte aus dauerte ca 2-3 h rauf und runter. wer nicht jung und fit ist, sollte durchaus mehr einplanen. aber es lohnt sich !!!... über 3000 m höhe. auf der rückseite des berges geht es recht...

Restaurant claims to be open at 8:30am. At 9:20 am there is nothing to eat except bezels, and when I mentioned it to the manager I basically ignored in a rude manner. Avoid this place...
