Nice lake right at the bottom of huge mountains. It's a small area and a round walk is doable within 1 hour. From here you can also start your hike up to 1800 or 2200 metres where you'll find small cottages for drinks and snacks. Be aware of land- and rockslides that are frequent very close to the mountains. At the lake there's a restaurant serving local warm and cold dishes. Be mindful of the wildlife and nature reserve, so take all your trash back home with you! Note that the road to the lake is closed during the day (8:00-17:00) due to new natural reserve protection rules. The parking space right next to the lake is open during the aforementioned times. Should you arrive at other times, turn left just before the gate to find parking spaces (5€ per day). You'll need to either walk the rest of the way or take the tourist carriage/bus from the town center or gate.

Although the scenario completely changes in winter, I still strongly recommend to go for a hiking and cross the lake. It is an amazing opportunity to see and be embedded by the surrondings. Absolutely amazing! During the week, there ia not to many people and one can truly appreciate the calmness and the silence... Although the lake can be reached by car (check previously when it is allowed to drive there) or by the small tourism train, I recommend going a nice relaxing walk. A restaurant is located near the lake.

A call and beautiful lake located by the Austrian alps with snow capped mountains, Vilsaplsee is a worth visit. Visitors can either take a road train or cycle or walk all the way to the lake. The walk takes around 1 hour time and goes through the town, beautiful forests and small streams of water and is pretty relaxing and very beginner friendly. There is also a restaurant at the beginning of the lake where one can have a snack or lunch. There are also hiking trails beyond the lake for people wanting...
